Participate in various activities to recognize that lab safety is important to your success as a student and researcher. Be entered to win safety swag and prizes each time you participate. Let's makeover your lab safety, personal safety and the safety culture, together at Illinois!
Monday, February 9th- Safety where YOU are!
The DRS team will be popping up in select buildings across campus! Stop by and meet some of the DRS staff. Ask your safety related questions, have an informal safety conversation, and grab some safety swag!
See you in the lobbies of:
Vet Med Basic Science Building; 8:30 am - 10:00 am map
Turner Hall; 10:30 am - 12 pm map
Chem Life Science Lab A (CLSL-A); 12:30 pm - 2 pm map
Beckman Institute; 2:30 pm - 4 pm map
Tuesday, February 10th- Five clicks to safer research!
Put on those detective hats and hunt down the answers to 5 safety questions on the DRS website from wherever you are- no lab coats required! Three lucky safety Sherlocks who locate answers to all 5 questions hidden on the website will win a safety T-shirt!

Wednesday, February 11th- Escape the unsafe lab!
Bring your friends and join us for a lab safety escape room where you beat the clock and escape the unsafe lab! Solve a series of safety puzzles to prepare your lab for safe research.
Sign up for a timeslot with your group of 2-4 people. Join the waitlist by emailing DRS@illinois.edu. Can't make it after signing up? Please let DRS know so another team gets a chance.
Location- Room 81 Engineering Science Building (ESB) map
Time- 9 am- 12 pm and 1 pm - 4 pm
Thursday, February 12th- Safety looks good on you!
Safety sleuths are on the prowl looking to spot you wearing your personal protective equipment (PPE) the right way! If DRS staff or your local safety professionals spot you wearing appropriate PPE, you could earn a Safety Recognition Certificate- plus an entry into a prize drawing! Keep practicing safe science and protecting yourself!
But, remember no PPE in the hallways!
Friday, February 13th- Extreme makeover photo contest!
Turn your lab into the safest, cleanest, and best-looking space it can be! Spend time during lab safety awareness week giving your lab a total makeover! On this last day of LSAW, submit your 'before' and 'after' photos of a spot in your lab or the whole lab that you made better, cleaner, or safer to DRS@illinois.edu for a chance to win a pizza party for your whole group! Get everyone involved! Snap your 'before' photo today and let's make the week unforgettable! The winning lab will also be featured in the DRS newsletter!
